Appearance: Shade doesn't look much older than 17 at the moment, he had no desire to age or look unattractive, so he chose to stop aging as a teenager, believing that if you had power, then it wouldn't matter how young you look. Shade is tall in height, standing at 6'4, but wiry and lithe rather than built up and muscular. His skin is very pale, yet completely flawless, almost feminine in its softness and beauty. Shade's is more beautiful than handsome, but carries it with an arrogance and a coldness and something almost sinister, like a Venus fly trap - beautiful to look at but get to close and beware. His lips are full, and elegantly sculpted. Shade's eyes are a deep blue, and look like a very still pond, where anything can reflect in the surface and you will never know unless you put your foot in what lies in the depth. His hair is thick, worn a little long, unless slicked back for formal wear, a dark chocolate brown in colour.
Personality: An ancient vampire in the body of a teenage boy. His own choice, and Shade knows it. He has been known more often than not to behave like an arrogant teen who thinks he can get away with murder because he comes from a good family - and in Shade's case - he can do just that. He's the eldest remaining Redfern, and lives on a seat of wealth and power as the Head of the Council in the Dark Kingdom. He's arrogant, beautiful, deadly without a conscience and knows it. He's charming, cunning, and resourceful. One does not lead a Council by acting like a spoilt teenager. Shade is a traditionalist in Night World values, however, he believes that humans are slaves, werewolves are stupid cheap labour, and shape shifters are just animals that can sometimes stand on two feet as well as four. Be in his good books, and Shade will give you lands, riches and invite you to the best hunts, the best dinners etc. You'll never have to worry - unless you make him unhappy. Be in his bad books, and well….enough implied.
Strengths: Shade is a very powerful vampire. Extremely fast, and unnervingly strong. He can communicate over a very long distance, and to a large group of different people. Shade is master of various forms of martial arts learned through out the decades, including karate, ju-jitsu, kung-fu and samurai sword fighting. He has also learned to speak and read many languages, ancient and modern. He's good at horseback riding and jousting, as well as archery.
Weaknesses: Shade has high walls built around him, and find its hard to really let anyone in. He doesn't believe he really has real friends, just acquaintances and lovers who he changes on a regular basis, he has no one to really confide him and keeps a lot to himself. Sometimes Shade finds it hard to keep in mind all the responsibilities of Council Leader, and feels like he could say the hell with it all and hide in a mundane ordinary existence. Shade does have a temper as well, and on the other hand, does not like it when things don't go his way. He doesn't like the way the modern world is changing, and things like computers and cell phones and television bother him terribly when he does venture out into the modern world. He doesn't really trust his advisors, thinking that most of them would over throw him if given the chance, which makes him quite paranoid.
History
Shade is the last surviving son of Red Fern, the first Lamia vampire. His history is largely unknown, he kept his name off the radar, until recently when the Council sort him out, trying to play on his sense of duty to keep the Night World to its old values. After some - unpleasantness in the Dark Kingdom, Shade took over the castle and the running of the land, believing it to be the last place where the Night World could truly exist as it was meant to.
